Why is this news? Well, because it's a chocolate counter and tasting bar, featuring creations from Hedonist Artisan Chocolates of Rochester.
As more and more wineries are adding locally-sourced edibles to their tasting rooms we inevitably will be seeing more than simply salsas and cheeses as the imaginative folks who make wineries financially successful in a down economy come up with new ideas to attract visitors.
Ravines had been carrying some Hedonist candies, but this change will expand the offerings and place more emphasis on the pairing of wines and chocolates. The winery also plans to open a cafe later this year on the floor below the main tasting room.
Hedonist is not new to the wine scene. Since 2009, it has made a truffle collection for "Truffles and Tastes," an annual Keuka Lake Wine Trail event held in February. The collection has eight truffles, each meant to complement a specific wine from the trail’s member wineries.
